DESIGN KOISHIKAWA is pleased to present Memories, the first solo exhibition in Tokyo of Calvin Ho. The “Memories” series is a new compilation of abstract and surreal drawings and collages, created during and after his two-year sabbatical across Australia and Europe. What he thought would give inspiration for his future, when in fact it opened up lost memories of his past. Vivid scenes, words and moments are expressed in colour, and black and white ink drawings of his darker memories, realises that maybe his past reveals more to him about himself than he originally intended.
Calvin Ho is an Australian multi-disciplined art director, graphic designer, illustrator and artist based in Hong Kong. He works independently under his company “AtomicAttack!” since 1996. Spanning over a 20-year career working for both local and international clients, Calvin’s work has been featured in various international magazines and periodicals including, +81 (JP), Design Plex (JP), Gallery, Creative Review, Dazed and Confused, Monocle, Computer Arts, Computer Arts Project, Vision Magazine, Advanced Photoshop, Harper’s Bazaar, West East Magazine, IdN, Shift Japan, New York Times. Further featured in design publications such as Romantik, Pictoplasma, NicetoMeetYouToo, Los Logos 1 and 2, Fashion Wonderland.

この度、東京のデザイン小石川では、初となるカルヴィン・ホーの単独展“Memories”を開催。この“Memories”のシリーズは、彼が2年のサバティカルホリデイの間、オーストラリアやヨーロッパを旅する中、新たに編集された抽象画や非常に精密なドローイングやコラージュの作品群である。忘れられた記憶の蓋を開けた時、彼の思考はの未来に対するにインスピレーションをもたらす。鮮明な感覚や言葉や瞬間は色に表れ、濃密な記憶を黒インクで描いたドローイングにより、本来意図したところより鮮明に、彼の過去が彼自身を映し出している。
カルヴィン・ホーは香港を活動拠点とする、グラフィックデザイナー、イラストレーター、アーティストとしての顔を併せ持つ、オーストラリア人のアートディレクター。AtomicAttack!として1996年に独立。20年以上のキャリアにおいて、国内外様々な企業とのコラボレーションを経験。カルヴィンの作品は日本の+81、 Design Plex 、Gallery、 Creative Review、Dazed and Confused、Monocle、Computer Arts、Computer Arts Project、Vision Magazine、Advanced Photoshop、Harper’s Bazaar、West East Magazine、IdN、Shift Japan、New York Timesなど多くの海外誌や週刊誌、Romantik、Pictoplasma、NicetoMeetYouToo、Los Logos 1 and 2、Fashion Wonderlandなど様々なデザイン誌にも特集されている。
